Foster Out As Ohio State Women's Basketball Coach

Ohio State University officials say that Jim Foster is out as the head women's basketball coach.

The school has scheduled a news conference at 4 p.m. on Tuesday to talk more about the announcement.

Foster has been head coach for the Buckeyes for 11 years.

Foster compiled a 279-82 record and departs as the coach with the most wins in program history in terms of wins and winning percentage.

This season he led Ohio State to an 18-13 overall record and tied for eighth in the Big Ten with a 7-9 mark.

"Jim Foster has meant so much to so many over his career," said OSU Athletic Director Gene Smith said in a news release. "His work in mentoring young people on and off the court has been exceptional.
 
Foster's Ohio State teams were ranked in the national Top 10 in five of the last eight seasons and his 2009-10 team set a program record with 31 wins.
