The state fire marshal is investigating what caused a fire near the Licking Valley High School in Newark late Friday night.
The athletic field house caught fire shortly before 11 p.m.
More than 20 fire units responded to the scene.
The fire was contained around 12:30 a.m Saturday, but crews stayed on the scene to watch for flare-ups.
10TV has been told the building housed locker rooms and weight rooms.
No one was inside at the time and no one was injured.
