Delaware County Chase Ends In Crash In Sunbury

Delaware County Sheriff's Officials tried to stop a vehicle during a pursuit that ended in a crash Thursday night.

According to the Delaware post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Delaware County Sheriff's officials were pursuing a vehicle when it crashed along Wilson Road near Sunbury shortly before 9 p.m.

Witnesses say the vehicle rolled six times and the crash resulted in serious injuries.

It began when the driver allegedly committed a traffic offense on U.S. 36, near the intersection with Interstate 71. 

According to a Lieutenant, the man driving the car didn't stop and that's when deputies followed him.

It is not clear why the driver fled or how fast he went.

The names of those involved and the reason for the original pursuit were not immediately released.
