Family and friends gathered on Monday for the funeral of longtime Fayette County Coroner Dr. Albert Gay.
Gay died on Wednesday following a heart procedure at Mount Carmel West in columbus. He was 53.
Gay was first appointed to the position in 2002, before voters elected him to the office.
Dr. Lenora Fitton will serve as acting Fayette County Coroner until the Republican Central Committee decides who will fill the position.
