Man Sentenced To 9 ½ Years For Breaking Into Homes, Vehicles In Delaware County

A Columbus man will spend nearly 10 years in prison for a number of burglaries in Delaware County.

According to the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office, Terry Wetzel was sentenced to 9 ½ years in prison on Monday for breaking into homes and vehicles in May and June of 2012.

Investigators said that 19-year-old Wetzel broke into numerous Genoa residences on June 9 and then Delaware County deputies on a high-speed chase through numerous yards while driving a stolen vehicle.

He was arrested and taken to the Delaware County Jail, where he attempted to escape. He was captured before he could leave jail grounds, officials said.

Wetzel was convicted of one count of receiving stolen property, one count of robbery, two counts of burglary, one count of failure to comply and one count of attempted to escape.
