Columbus City School District officials say they must cut nearly $25 million from the budget, and that could mean the loss of 300 jobs.

The district may also have to drop some services and programs to meet that number, officials said.

Among the possible cuts are 95 teaching assistants, 25 custodians and 25 English as a Second Language (ESL) instructional assistants.

The district may also eliminate busing for high school students and sports for middle schools.

School board officials will debate the proposed cuts more in a special meeting next week.
