School Children Release Balloons In Remembrance Of Boy Who Died After Falling Into Icy Pond

Classmates of Elijah Walker gathered on Thursday afternoon to remember the 5-year-old who died last month.

Walker was pulled from an icy pond on Feb. 7. He died a week later.

The students at Leawood Elementary released balloons on Thursday from the school playground.

The students in Walker's homeroom, as well as his brothers', participated in the remembrance ceremony.

James Jenkins, the man who tried to save Walker, also died following the rescue attempt.
