Police Report Fewer Burglaries In Hilliard

Wednesday March 6, 2013 6:41 PM

Hilliard police say the number of burglaries are going down.

Police Chief J. Douglas Francis said there were fewer burglaries reported in the first quarter of 2013 compared to the same time last year.

He said last year's numbers were up because of car break-ins and thefts.

Francis said drug arrests are increasing this year, and that could be related to the drop in the number of burglaries.

To cut your risk of becoming a crime victim, Francis said to be aware of your surroundings, lock doors and windows and don't leave the garage doors up.
