Ohio State players will hit the field on Tuesday for the start of spring football practice.
The team will participate in 14 practices leading up to the spring game which is being held in Cincinnati on April 13.
Since the school switched from quarters to semesters, this is the earliest Ohio State has started spring practice.
There are 51 lettermen returning from the squad that went 12-0 last year.
Coach Urban Meyer will be looking to fill seven vacancies on the defense left by graduating seniors. That includes the entire line.
On offense, Quarterback Braxton Miller is already being mentioned as a Heisman Trophy candidate and will be asked to improve on a year where he set a school record for total offense.
On special teams, Meyer will have to find a new punter this year.
