The man charged with stabbing the wife of a pastor earlier this month in a Zanesville church faced a judge on Wednesday.

A lawyer for 25-year-old Kerron Brantley said the man is not guilty by reason of insanity.

Investigators said Brantley broke into the First Church of God on Newark Road where he allegedly stabbed the wife of the church pastor.

Brantley faces multiple charges including attempted murder, felonious assault and breaking and entering.

The Zanesville Times Recorder reported that Brantley was being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
