A doctor accused in the death of a pregnant mother is now out of jail until his trial, but he was not in the mood for talking on Monday after posting bond.
Ali Salim paid the needed $100,000 of his $1 million bond to be freed from jail after five days behind bars.
As he walked from jail, 10TV asked him multiple questions about the charges against him, but Salim did not say a word. Salim's brother also refused to answer any questions.
Salim, a former emergency room doctor who worked in Knox County, is charged with two counts of murder as well as rape, felonious assault, corrupting another with drugs, kidnapping, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.
Deanna Ballman, who was a mother of two and nine-months-pregnant, was found dead of heroin intoxication in her car last summer near Westerville. Ballman had responded to an online job ad that Salim placed.
A judge last week told Salim that if he posted bond, he would still be required to stay under house arrest.
He is required to wear a GPS monitor, and he had to surrender his passport. He is only allowed to attend meetings with his attorney or probation officer, and pre-approved medical appointments.
10TV crews saw Salim return to his home around 1 p.m. on Monday.
Prosecutors last week asked for a $5 million bond, arguing that Salim mistreated Ballman's corpse and that the violence was not isolated.
In arguing for a reduced bond, Salim's attorney had said that he was not a flight risk since he has known charges could be coming but did not leave the area. Salim's trial date is currently set for May 7.
