A man was arrested by SWAT officers on Thursday night in connection with a man’s shooting death.

According to police, Antonio V. Evans was arrested Thursday evening at the Ramada Inn, located at 4801 E. Broad St., and charged with tampering with evidence.

The arrest was in connection with the shooting death of Tony C. Walton, 25, who was shot and dropped off at Mount Carmel East Hospital late Wednesday.

Investigators spent most of Thursday searching for a 1995 Ford Crown Victoria, which was thought to have been the vehicle that dropped Walton off at the hospital.

Police said that SWAT officers found the vehicle at about 7:45 p.m. Thursday and arrested 23-year-old Evans.

The details surrounding Evans’ charges were not immediately released.
