A seven-month pregnant woman underwent an emergency delivery after a head-on crash early Thursday.

Columbus police said on Friday morning that the baby boy succumbed to his injuries sustained in the fatal head-on crash that occurred shortly after midnight Thursday.

According to police, Casey P. Badgley was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-670 near Cassady Avenue when he struck a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Sara Vogelmeier.

Badgley, 25, was transported to Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 3 a.m.

Vogelmeier was taken to the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where the delivery was performed.

The woman remained in critical condition as of Friday morning.

Badgley was believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
