Police have determined what was in the package that prompted evacuations in the Ohio State University Gateway District.

Members of the bomb squad said the box, discovered outside of an administration building, contained part of a disabled alarm system.

The parts were "beeping," which raised the concern.

Students were told to evacuate the buildings around North High Street and 11th Avenue at about 9:45 a.m.

Students were given the all clear a short time later.

No injuries were reported.

Police have not said why the package may have been discarded in the area.
