A man is facing menacing by stalking charges after allegedly harassing a 17-year-old girl, according to ThisWeek Community Newspapers.

The paper reported that 21-year-old Matthew Proehl was arrested on Feb. 12 on fourth-degree felony menacing by stalking charges.

According to police, the girl reported that she had been receiving harassing text messages, calls and Tweets from Proehl for the past year.

ThisWeek reported that she told officers that he left roses on her car Feb. 11 and then pounded on her door and rang the doorbell multiple times. He refused to leave, according to the police report.

The police report stated that she received about 20 text messages each day and a number of Twitter messages that she said were "annoying" and occasionally sexually oriented.

ThisWeek reported that Proehl has previous charges in connection with alleged harassment and stalking crimes.
