A woman told authorities that her dog was killed when burglars broke into her north Columbus home.

Pam Estes said she discovered the crime scene when she came home for lunch on Monday.

She first noticed that her window was busted and the garage was open. Estes then discovered her dog, Shaughnessey, in a pool of blood.

Estes said that the dog had its throat slit by the burglars.

“The first few days I was numb. I couldn't think. I was in shock. I thought, would anybody really do anything like that. I thought why. You can't replace a dog,” she said.

The burglars stole her laptop and iPad.
