A Mount Vernon Nazarene University student is charged after police say he threatened three other students.

Collin Leitz pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated menacing.

University officials said that they are cooperating fully as Mount Vernon police investigate the alleged threats.

“In today’s world, the university and our local authorities have to treat seriously all threatening statements, even if they are made as part of a prank or in the heat of the moment, ” said Dr. Lanette Sessink, Vice President for Student Life, in a statement to 10TV News.

University officials stressed that the incident under review does not appear to pose a threat to the campus at this time.

Officials said that Leitz no longer was a student at the university.

Leitz’ trial is set for late February.
