The Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks Board did not vote on a request to give firearms to park rangers Tuesday night.

The fraternal order of police requested the opportunity for the rangers to carry guns last month.

Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks rangers currently carry pepper spray.

The board will look at the need further.

A similar request in 2011 was rejected.
