A local event company is launching an effort to help put 26 benches in parks around Newtown, Connecticut.

Each one of the benches would be in memory of a shooting victim.

An Upper Arlington man launched the 26-benches effort to help the Newtown honor those killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Organizer Mark Sigrist said all donations will go directly to Newtown city parks.

Donors can then specify the website to direct money to the memorial benches.

"We're really just a website that links to their parks and recreation website, and we're just trying to promote the idea that we wanted that maybe small contributions from a lot of people would add up to something really significant," said Mark Sigrist.

Each bench with a memorial plaque will cost about $1,000.
