Sheriff's Office Identifies Victim of I-270 Crash Near Gahanna

UPDATED: Sunday February 10, 2013 8:57 PM

Crash investigators said a northbound pickup truck crashed on Sunday after drifting into the median.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on I-270 just south of I-670.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office Traffic Bureau said the truck hit a guardrail and a concrete support post for an overpass, then flipped several times.

The driver was ejected, and the vehicle came to rest on top of the driver.

Investigators identified the driver as Christopher D. Vance, 43, of Bellefontaine. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities closed I-270 in both directions for more than two hours to examine the crash scene.

A news release from the sheriff's office indicated Vance was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The incident was still under investigation Sunday night.
