Police are investigating after thieves used a rock to smash their way into a southwest Columbus carryout.
The suspects targeted the M&S Pizza and Carryout on Georgesville Road just before 3 a.m. Thursday morning.
The crooks shattered two glass doors and cracked through display cases with a rock.
The owner said the pair got away with hundreds of dollars in prepaid cell phones.
“A lot of the prepaid phones can be deactivated. There is never any money left in the store, there's never any money in the drawers,” said owner Chad Rasul.
After 23 years in the business, Rasul said he has learned not to leave any valuable items where crooks can get to them.
“With the way the economy is, everybody thinks they can just break in and take anything,” said Rasul.
The damage to the business is around $2,000, but Rasul said insurance will cover most of the costs.
