UPDATED: Thursday February 7, 2013 5:36 AM

A suspected drunk driver is in police custody after police said he crashed into a Columbus Fire Medic on purpose.

Officers rushed to the far southeast side of Columbus on Upperridge Drive and Treehouse Lane around 3:00 A.M.

The medic called police after he spotted the suspected drunk driver and started following him.

When the driver pulled into a driveway, rescue workers tried to box him in.  That's when officers said the driver backed into the medic on purpose.

No injuries were reported.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and is expected to face OVI charges.
