They may disguise their faces, and their intent is clear. Authorities say they are bank robbers who want to get away with their crimes.
A man wearing a black mask and pointing a silver handgun entered the Chase bank on West Fifth Avenue around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The FBI said he jumped over the counter, loaded a tan bag with cash and escaped on foot. The male suspect is around 5 feet 8 inches tall, and weighs around 150 pounds.
Around 1 p.m., there was another bank robbery seven miles north of the first one. The Kembra Credit Union was hit on High Street in Clintonville.
The suspect in that robbery is described as a light-skinned black male who wore black and red ski gloves. He fled the scene in a white Ford pickup truck.
Just six minutes later, the FBI said a serial bank robber dubbed the "Bad Beard Bandit" struck again. Police said he robbed the United Mid-West Savings Bank on Reed Road.
Authorities said he uses a fake beard, sunglasses and fedora hat to conceal his identity. The FBI said the “Bad Beard Bandit” is behind at least six area bank robberies.
Anyone with information concerning these robberies is asked to contact the Columbus Division of Police at (614) 645-4600 or the FBI at (614) 224-1183.
