Ohio State Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer received commitments from some of the top high school players around the country on Wednesday.

Several of the announcements on National Letter of Intent signing day surprised the experts.

Georgia safety Vonn Bell is considered one of the prizes in the class. He had three schools as finalists, including Tennessee and Alabama along with OSU.

Florida wide receiver James Clark also signed with Ohio State despite growing up in the shadow of the University of Florida.

While most of the news was good, the Buckeyes lost out on Taivon Jacobs. Wide receiver Jacobs signed with Maryland instead of OSU.

Running back Ezekiel Elliot of St. Louis committed to OSU at 5 p.m.
