For years, people have reported strange sightings and startling sounds at the Fairfield County Department of Health building.

The stories have some people thinking that the building is haunted.

Now, a paranormal group wants to officially investigate those claims.

They are asking the commissioners permission to look for paranormal activity in the building and put rumors to rest.

"Basically, what I've heard is, it's either a old man, a old woman or a child holding some kind of like a teddy bear, or some kind of a stuffed animal," said Fairfield County Commissioner Mike Kiger.

The Health Department will vacate the Clarence E. Miller building at the end of the April.

Commissioners said once that happens, they'll grant the group permission to put these ghostly plans to the test.
