Police said two people, including a child, were injured in a crash on the far west side of Columbus on Friday.

The rollover crash occurred at Auto Mall Drive and Boltonfield Street just before 10:30 a.m.

Crews at the scene said that an SUV crashed into a tree, ejecting the child.

Witness Christina Hannon said that the crash came through her back yard.

“It was shocking,” Hannon said. “The mother was out of the car screaming and crying. Her little boy was lying on the ground.”

Hannon, a mother herself, said that the scene was horrific.

“We started taking blankets from people that had stopped and put them under him to keep off the ground a little bit without moving his back too much. And I just told her to pray.”

The child was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in critical condition. Police said that they did not believe the 7-year-old child was properly restrained.

The names of the victims had not been released.
