The Columbus Metropolitan Library is considering the purchase of the former school for the deaf, near Town Street downtown.

The location is next to the main branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

The purchase would allow the library to create an outdoor area behind the library.

One main proposal would be to change the façade of the rear of the library to glass, to give guests a view of the Topiary Garden.

That proposal could also have the library selling the building once used by the School for the Deaf to a private school.

A final decision could come as soon as March.
