Crews Respond To Several Water Main Breaks Around Columbus

UPDATED: Wednesday January 23, 2013 12:21 PM

Columbus officials are dealing with a number of water main breaks around the city, likely caused by the cold weather.

Police confirmed that there was one break at W. Molar St. and S. High St. on the south side.

City officials said the repairs at Moler St. are taking more time because AT&T needs to remove a pole from the area.

They remind residents that if they come across a street with water and ice from a potential break, call #311 to report it.

Another break was discovered in the 4600 block of Glenmawr in Clintonville.

There's also a break from earlier this week still at E. Main St. & James Rd. on the east side that is still being repaired.

Drivers should expect possible road closures in those areas.

According to the city's website, water main breaks are repaired on a priority system based on severity of the leak, location and other factors including critical facilities the line may serve such as hospitals, nursing homes or schools.
