Police said Carnel Al-Sherod Overby, 20, was shot and killed just before 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Authorities were called to 220 Highview Landing where they found Overby with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
He was taken to Grant Medical Center, where he died.
Police said there was no forced entry into Overby's apartment.
Investigators said they do not know of a motive or suspect at this time.
