A man is charged with kidnapping after allegedly forcing a man to drive him to withdraw money from the alleged victim's bank accounts.
According to court documents, James E. Drayton Sr. kidnapped a 52-year-old man in the 3000 block of Pontiac Street on Jan. 19 and forced him into a vehicle.
Drayton allegedly implied that he had a gun and forced the man to drive to several banks with the purpose to rob him.
Court documents stated that officers witnessed Drayton punching the man while inside of a Chase Bank.
Police arrested Drayton and a woman in connection with the alleged kidnapping.
Court documents stated that the woman had a note stating that she and Drayton needed to scam the man out of $550 or $600 for a hotel room, a rental car and cash.
Drayton was held in jail on Tuesday on $750,000 bond.
