Family Members Say They Don't Know Location Of Missing Baby

UPDATED: Saturday January 19, 2013 7:02 PM

The search continued on Saturday for a missing 6-month-old baby from Newark.

Nicayla Jordan was believed to be with her mother, Amanda Jordan, 25, who was released from jail on Thursday

Authorities told 10TV that Licking County Children Services has been given emergency custody in the case.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, police served a warrant at a location on Gay Street where Amanda Jordan’s mother and Nicayla’s aunt were located.

Police said the warrants for Susan Allen and Rockell Hudson were served without incident, but Amanda and Nicayla were not found.

“My daughter was in jail when that baby came up missing. How they get her on kidnapping when she's in jail?” Susan Allen told 10TV News on Saturday.

According to Allen, Jordan was in jail when Children Services told her they planned to take custody of the child. The next day, Jordan was released.

Allen said that she gave the child to the father's mother, not knowing about the intentions of Children Services.

“I let the other grandmother take her and now she says she doesn't have her either,” said Allen.

The paternal grandmother, Vicki Jordan, told 10TV News that she never had the child.

Police said based on the conflicting stories, they arrested Allen and Hudson on charges of interfering with child custody.

Both Allen and Hudson denied the charges and posted bond Saturday morning.

“Nickayla is taken care of. She doesn't have bruises. She's not neglected. She's well taken care of. She's a very happy baby,” said Hudson.

They claimed they had no idea where mom and child were.

“The only think I can think is that she's out looking for her daughter,” said Allen. “She’s scared because she's fearful Children Services is going to take her baby.”
