Investigators said that a man is facing charges that could put his freedom in jeopardy.
Franklin County Sheriff’s officials said that 30-year-old Jason Grossman arranged a meeting to have sex with a fictitious young girl.
Officers executed a search warrant at Grossman’s Westerville apartment and seized his computer. The warrant was a result of online correspondence with an undercover detective posing as a father of a prepubescent female.
According to the warrant, Grossman stated that he was “active” with children. The detective explained that “active” was a euphemism used to describe sexual abuse of a child.
The warrant also read that Grossman said that he had lots of “parenting experience, because he babysat for a lot of his friends.”
When Grossman showed up for a meeting with the fake father on Jan. 9, he was arrested. Officers said that he denied being there for sex.
Grossman was released from jail on bond.
10TV News reached the lawyer by phone, but he declined to comment.
Sheriff’s officials would not comment whether they believed Grossman ever had actual sexual contact with minors. They said the investigation was ongoing.
