Gov. John Kasich will deliver his State of the State address in Lima this year.

This is the second year in a row that Kasich has taken the speech on the road. Last year, Kasich made the speech from Steubenville's Wells Academy.

The 2013 State of the State will be held on Tuesday, February 19 at the Veterans Memorial Civic Center at 6:30 p.m.

Kasich said last year he believed it was important for lawmakers to have government closer to the people.

The location is still subject to legislative approval.  New Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) represents Lima in the legislature.

Earlier this month, state Rep. Ronald Gerberry (D-Youngstown) asked House Speaker William Batchelder to reject any request by Kasich to change the speech's venue. Gerberry said moving the address "significantly destroys" the historic tradition of holding the joint session in House chambers.

Lima is located in Republican-leaning Allen County which went for Mitt Romney by a 62 to 36 percent margin last November.
