Columbus School Sends Note Home About Man Who Approached Students, Threatened School

Parents of children at Southwood Elementary School received a letter on Thursday about a possible threat against the school.

According to the letter, a man approached students during recess and made an unspecified threat against the school, located at 1500 S. Fourth Street, shortly before 1 p.m.

School officials brought students inside and placed the building under lockdown for the rest of the school day on Thursday.

The man was described as 40 to 50 years old with a long graying beard and a wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
