Columbus Academy in Gahanna was placed under a brief lockdown Thursday morning because of a report of a suspicious person in the area.
A spokesman for the school said that police told officials that they were searching for a person accused in a robbery nearby.
The lockdown was lifted shortly before 9:30 a.m.
Police said that they were searching an area off of Morse Road and Sheffield Drive. A woman reported being robbed by a masked man with a gun at about 8:30 a.m.
The robber got away with the woman's purse and took off into a wooded area, police said.
Students were allowed to go about their normal activities inside of the school’s buildings, but no one was allowed to go outside during the lockdown.
