Columbus police officials said that officer Matt Mitchell was released from the hospital last week.

Mitchell was seriously injured in a crash on November 6 when two Columbus police cruisers collided.

Mitchell and the other officer were responding to a report of an armed robbery when their vehicles struck each other at Ontario Street and E. 25th Avenue around 8 p.m.

Investigators at the time said they believed Mitchell ran the stop sign at Ontario Street and struck Ritch's cruiser.

Authorities said that Mitchell has "made great strides in his recovery" but that his injuries will require additional therapy.
