The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services warned Ohioans about potentially fraudulent Smartphone applications that are currently being offered to users.

The ODJFS said the apps claim to offer the ability to check users’ cash and food assistance account balances.

The apps cost between $1.50 and $1.99.

The ODJFS said they are not approved by the agency and that they never charge for the information.

The applications also ask users for confidential financial information which makes identity theft a concern.
