Worthington Bus Driver Fired After Allegedly Using Student To Direct Traffic Around Broken-Down Bus

UPDATED: Tuesday January 15, 2013 8:16 AM

A bus driver in the Worthington City School district was fired on Monday after being suspended three times since 2011, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

According to The Dispatch, Shelley Herron failed to keep a student seated during a ride, failed to stop a student from eating on a bus, failed to communicate with students, parents and school officials and did not report that she would miss work on Jan. 3.

Herron, 52, also is accused of using a student to direct traffic around her bus that had broken down.

Herron told The Dispatch that she did not know why she was “so severely treated.”

The woman became a permanent driver for Worthington in 2003.
