The House voted to pass $50.5 billion in aid for victims of Superstorm Sandy on Tuesday.

The storm hit the northeastern United States as a hurricane late in October, then lost strength. It led to 140 deaths and billions of dollars in damage.

The states of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York saw the worst of the damage from the storm.

The 241-180 vote sends the measure to the Senate to consider. That chamber passed the aid bill in the previous session of 112th Congress.
