Police were investigating a shooting in on Turtle Station Bridge.
Police said that a man who was reported missing was found dead on Monday morning.
According to Columbus police, the 67-year-old man identified as Robert Howard, was found in a body of water near the Forest Creek Apartments, located off of Eakin Road on the southwest side, shortly after 6 a.m.
Detectives on the scene said that a 71-year-old family member called 911 after he realized that his cousin, who suffers from dementia, was not at home.
A sergeant said that Howard fell down an embankment into the body of water.
Howard's cousin said the only thing he did was take out the trash, and one of his neighbors remembered seeing him Sunday with a trash bag walking outside with a confused look on his face.
"I did see him take out the trash last night, and he did look confused, and I told myself he shouldn't be out like that I should walk him back to his house. So, I went into my house and came back and he was gone," said Sonia Grant.
According to family members, Howard is from the Washington, D.C. area and has no family in Ohio.
He was a veteran who served in the Army and Air Force.
