A study requested and paid for by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the county commissioners shows that the county needs more employees.
According to the study, 160 more people are needed to carry out the sheriff’s office’s workload.
The study suggests that 120 people are needed in the jails and about 40 others are needed in patrol and other positions.
The office currently has 845 employees.
The report also suggests that the sheriff’s office end the county’s DARE program against drugs in schools.
The sheriff said that the report is hundreds of pages long, and officials will be working to read through it before commenting or making any changes.
