Guernsey County sheriff’s officials said on Wednesday that they were investigating after a murder-suicide involving a child.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a home on Piedmont Road in Cambridge Township shortly before 4 p.m. on Wednesday to conduct a well-being check on 36-year-old Russell Ball.
Ball had made threats to harm himself on Tuesday night, sheriff’s officials said on the county’s website.
When deputies arrived at the home, they forced entry into the locked building and found that Ball had shot and killed his 5-year-old son and then himself with the same weapon.
Sheriff’s officials said that they would provide more information on Thursday.
