As influenza grips much of the nation, another illness is making its way around Licking County.
Doctors at Licking Memorial Hospital have seen more people in the past few weeks with symptoms of what's called the "stomach-flu."
It is most commonly caused by norovirus, but it is not related to influenza, according to doctors.
Symptoms include vomiting and diarrhea.
The Licking County Health Department says the best defense is hand-washing to prevent the spread of the virus.
