The Central Ohio Transit Authority was getting ready on Sunday to stop using 107 bus stops as part of a service improvement project.

COTA officials said the eliminations were part of a plan designed to combine lesser-used stops with ones that are utilized by more riders.

"Part of the reason we're looking at consolidating our bus lines is to speed up service so that customers can get to their destinations quicker," COTA spokesman Mary Stutz said.

The changes were set to take effect on Monday.
