UPDATED: Saturday January 5, 2013 10:08 PM

A fire department in northwest Ohio put their newly donated dog oxygen masks to good work this past week.

Firefighters used one of the masks to revive a lifeless Labrador retriever found in the basement of a burning home in Lima.

The Lima News reports that the dog named Cola was limp and covered in ash when firefighters carried her out of the house Thursday morning.

Firefighters spent about five minutes pumping oxygen through a mask until the dog began breathing. They say they had just received the animal oxygen masks within the last week.

The dog's owner says she lost everything that she owns, but feels fortunate that her family and her dog are alive.
