2 Charged In Connection With Double Murder

Two men are in custody after a June double homicide.

James Whatley Jr. and Deondre Crosby are accused of killing Christopher Morrison and Justain Nelson in Guernsey County on June 24.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Whatley, 31, was arrested by Columbus SWAT officers on Thursday at a home in Columbus.

Whatley currently is being held at the Franklin County Jail and will be extradited to Guernsey  County.

Crosby, 21, of Zanesville, already was serving a prison sentence on an unrelated charge.

Both men were indicted on two counts each of aggravated murder, aggravate robbery and aggravated burglary with firearm specifications.

Another man, Tyler Burrell, was indicted in connection with the murders in 2012. As of August, he was still wanted in connection with the shooting deaths.

Elgin Mitchell, also accused in the slayings, was taken into custody.
