A woman made a shocking discovery inside of a Hilliard apartment Dumpster.

Dozens of boxes of presents from elementary school students slated for soldiers were found discarded in the trash.

The boxes were discovered inside of the community Dumpsters at the Hickory Mill Apartments, off of Roberts Road in Hilliard.

“That’s what I discovered, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh!’” said resident Norma Jean McGlothlin. “And I said, ‘It looks like Christmas boxes, shoe boxes that are wrapped up in Christmas packages.”

From treats to handmade gifts with heartfelt messages, the gifts were all trashed. McGlothlin said that she was curious when she saw several cardboard boxes inside of the Dumpster.

“This keychain was handmade with a loving prayer by Mikiah,” McGlothlin said. “It says, ‘I’m praying for you,’ and it says, ‘Thank you,’ on the back of them. They’re wrapped in what looked like shoe boxes.”

McGlothlin said that she did not know how anyone could do such a thing as discard the presents for soldiers.

The woman said that the boxes had no obvious shipping or return addresses.

The presents were from students at Liberty Christian Academy.

10TV News spoke with a second-grade teacher at the school who said that she was shocked to hear about the gifts ending up in the Dumpster and had no idea how they got there.
