Police Search For Gunman After Man Hospitalized In South Columbus

Police said that a man was hospitalized in critical condition after an early Wednesday morning shooting.

According to police, the man, identified as 36-year-old John Shannon, was shot along Hanford and Ann streets at about 2:30 a.m.

Police said that some sort of confrontation occurred before shots were fired.

Shannon was struck in the upper body multiple times, possibly in the back, and was taken to Grant Medical Center.

Police said that they were still working to gather details about the shooter, who fled after Shannon was shot.

Officers hoped to get more details from witnesses, as well as from the victim at Grant.
