Happy New Year! Skies will begin to clear this evening and through the overnight hours. With the lack of cloud cover in addition to the snowpack on the ground, overnight lows will dip into the teens. It’s possible some areas could even drop into the single digits tonight if enough clearing takes place.
Cold temperatures will stick around for the remainder of the week. Highs tomorrow will top out in the mid 20s under partly cloudy skies. Another cold front will bring a reinforcing shot of cold air on Thursday. The front won’t have much moisture but could still bring some flurries or light snow showers Thursday afternoon and evening. We’ll see partly cloudy skies and chilly temperatures as we head into the weekend.
We picked up an additional 1.7” of snow at Port Columbus yesterday. That left us with 14.9” for the month of December in Columbus—the 2nd snowiest on record. We’re now up to 15.7” of snow for the season in Columbus and that number is 9.6” above average for this point in the season.
Inconvenient Weather: A few slick roads are possible this evening, mainly on the county roads and side streets. Temperatures will be very cold tonight in the teens and possibly single digits.
