The director of the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency offers tips for being safe in the snow.
According to Michael Pannell, his department is in constant contact with jurisdictions to take stock of weather situations.
Pannell said that in any inclement weather, drivers should make sure they have a full tank of gas in their vehicles.
“If you have to go to work, you have to go to work,” Pannell said.
Travelers also should remember to:
- Charge cell phones
- Have plenty of weather
- Have a way of marking vehicles if they become stuck
Pannell also said that blizzards can cause high wind, which could result in downed power lines and power outages.
